Privacy
This page describes the current privacy expectations for Kyn: what becomes public, what stays private to you, and what staff may review when support or safety requires it.
What information Kyn stores
- Account information such as username, login credentials, and profile details you provide.
- Stories, draft stories, Spark Notes, reader notes, room posts, follows, ratings, saves, Reader Lists, seasons, and inbox activity created through the product.
- Moderation reports and staff review actions when safety or policy issues are raised.
- Operational logs, story view events, and product analytics needed to keep the service healthy and understand the reading and response loop.
Public product state
- Published stories, public story metadata, public profile fields, public room posts, and public Reader Lists are visible to other people.
- Public Sparks and Spark Notes are visible because they explain how one published story responds to, carries, resists, or reframes another.
- Reader summaries, reader prompts, and public conversation posts are public when you submit them to public story conversation or room surfaces.
- Rating averages, rating counts, story view counts, save counts, and Spark counts may appear as aggregates. Kyn does not show a public list of exactly who rated or privately saved a story.
Private product state
- Draft stories, draft parent-story plans, and draft Spark Notes stay private while you work.
- Publish-review preparation exists to preview the public version of a story and its Sparks before anything becomes public.
- Private saves, private Reader Lists, saved response starts, and notification preferences are personal return-attention tools.
- Your email address and login credentials are not public profile content.
Staff-visible and operational state
- Moderation reports, reported-content snapshots, editorial review records, support messages, and staff actions may be reviewed by staff to resolve safety, abuse, copyright, privacy, or product concerns.
- Operational logs and product events help diagnose failures, measure whether the story-to-Spark loop is working, and protect the service.
- Policy acknowledgements are versioned records of the terms, privacy, community, content-policy, or age-gate expectations you accepted at signup, publish time, or before opening explicit adult story bodies.
